FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University men's and women's tennis teams are opening Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) dual match play against St. Peter's this weekend. The men's team will take on the Peacocks on Saturday, February 28 at 1:00 p.m. while the women's match will be held on Sunday, March 1 at 11:00 a.m.
Fairfield (1-3; 0-0 MAAC) vs. St. Peter's - Men: Saturday's match will be the first time the two programs will meet for dual play since last year's match on April 19. In that contest, Fairfield swept St. Peter's, 7-0, on the Walsh Athletic Center Tennis Courts in Fairfield, Conn. The Stags are 4-0 in their last two meetings with the Peacocks.

St. Peter's has posted victories over LaSalle, Rider, Fordham, Yeshiva, and St. Francis Brooklyn and has fallen to Fordham, Wagner, Drexel, Saint Joseph's, NJIT, Lafayette, and Fairleigh Dickinson. In the fall, the Peacocks competed in two tournaments, including the Hofstra Tournament and the ITA Regionals.
A Look at the Peacocks - Women: St. Peter's stands 3-3 so far this season with a 2-0 mark in MAAC play. The Peacocks are coming off a 6-1 loss to NJIT on February 15 in Newark, N.J. St. Peter's has posted victories over Monmouth, Rider, and St. Francis Brooklyn and has fallen to Wagner, Rhode Island, and NJIT. The Peacocks will be tested against Lafayette on February 26 before facing the Stags. In the fall, St. Peter's competed in four tournaments, including the Hofstra Tournament, the West Point Invitational, the NJAIAW Tournament, and the ITA Regionals.
Last Time Out - Men: The men's team last fell 5-2 to Fairleigh Dickinson on Friday, February 20 in Stamford, Conn. The Stags posted singles victories in the No. 5 and No. 6 slots. At No. 5 singles was rookie Dylan Appel who defeated the Knights' Kiran Mani, 6-2, 6-0. Classmate Luke Lemieux edged Garnel, 4-6, 6-4, 10-6, in the No. 6 spot.
Last Time Out - Women: The women's team posted a 5-2 victory over Lafayette on Saturday, February 7 in Easton, Pa. The Fairfield duo of Nicole Aragones and Sarah Stuhlmann defeated Lafayette's Jordyn Spellberg and Gabby Montes, 6-2, in the No. 2 spot while the Stags' Erika Nannery and Kaila Nelson notched a 6-4 win over the Leopards' Rocine Moschella and Tori Almeida in the No. 3 slot. In the No. 2 singles slot was rookie Aragones who posted a, 6-2, 6-2, win over Spellberg while Nelson edged Moschella by a count of 4-6, 6-3, 10-5, at No. 3 singles. Rounding out play was Meghan Zimmer who edged Lafayette's Montes, 3-6, 6-3, 10-4, at No. 6 singles.
Looking Ahead: After this weekend's match, Fairfield will continue action on the road. The men's team will travel to Manchester, Conn. to take on UConn on Wednesday, March 4 at noon. The women's team will face the Huskies the following day in East Hartford, Conn. at 2:00 p.m.
