2024-25 Fairfield Cheer Roster
Responsibilities: If chosen for the team, cheerleaders are required to fulfill their responsibilities as a representative of Fairfield University. Practices begin in mid September and the season will conclude after NCA College Nationals in Daytona Beach, FL in early April. Cheerleaders must be willing to give up certain days of their fall, spring, winter and holiday breaks to cover events scheduled by the coaching staff. Events include, but are not limited to, Men’s and Women’s Basketball games, Alumni Association events and pep rallies, community service activities, competitions, and Athletic Department events.
Our team cheers for men's and women's home basketball games during the regular season. We also travel to postseason tournaments such as the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) the NCAA Championships and National Invitation Tournament (NIT) at the discretion of the Department of Athletics.
Practice: All squad members are expected to be at all practices, on time. Your commitment to cheerleading must come first before any other activities – the only thing to come ahead of cheer is schoolwork. Practice will be held three times a week, typically scheduled for Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7-9:30PM. All efforts will be made to accommodate the academic requirements of team members, so it is possible that a Monday, Wednesday or Friday practice may be scheduled.
Tryouts: Spring 2025 tryouts are scheduled for Sunday, April 27 from 11 AM - 2 PM at Mahoney Arena. To register for tryouts please fill out this form and reach out to Coach Taylor with any questions.
We are looking for cheerleaders who show mastery of basic cheer skills such as motions and jumps, and demonstrate an ability or potential to excel in stunting and tumbling. At tryouts, candidates will be required to perform a series of jumps, learn a cheer & dance, and work through stunt and tumbling progressions. There is no tumbling requirement, but the ability to tumble may be a deciding factor between candidates, and as we become more competitive, tumbling continues to grow in importance. Placement on the team is for one season. All members selected are at the discretion of the Head Coach. The total number of members selected for the team is at the discretion of the Head Coach and the Department of Athletics administration.
