NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. — Fairfield University Men's Tennis stayed unbeaten in MAAC play with a 7-0 sweep on Sunday at Merrimack. The Stags took five of six singles matches in straight sets to move to 3-0 in conference action.
Fairfield secured the doubles point with victories in the top two flights.
Kostas Kollias and
Kacper Krolikowski finished 6-4 at No. 1 doubles, while
Alex Aguiar and
Calum Jessett recorded a 6-3 win at No. 2.
In singles, the Stags controlled the action across the courts. Krolikowski posted a straight-sets victory, 6-4, 6-2, at No. 1 singles.
Diego Alcala clinched a comeback win at No. 2 singles, finishing 7-5, 3-6, 1-0(5). Kollias recorded a 6-4, 6-4 win at No. 3 singles.
Jessett added to the scoreline with a 6-2, 6-4 result at No. 4 singles, while
Domagoj Stabek prevailed 7-6(9), 6-3 at No. 5 singles. Aguiar completed the sweep with a decisive 7-5, 6-1 victory at No. 6 singles.
The Stags resume MAAC play this Wednesday, April 1 against Sacred Heart at the Tennis Club of Trumbull. The match, which counts as a home outing for the Pioneers, is set for 11 a.m.
