FAIRFIELD, Conn. — Fairfield University Men's Tennis rolled to a 7-0 sweep of visiting Siena on Friday at the Walsh Athletic Center Outdoor Courts. The Stags moved to 2-0 in conference action after the decisive victory.
The Stags got off on an early advantage with wins in the top two doubles flights.
Kostas Kollias and
Kacper Krolikowski emerged victorious at No. 1 doubles with a 6-4 score, while
Alex Aguiar and
Calum Jessett claimed a 6-2 win at No. 2 doubles. The match at No. 3 doubles was unfinished with Fairfield's
Luca Benaibbouche and
Alexander Di Staulo leading, 6-5
In singles, Fairfield clinched the match with straight set wins by Kollias at No. 3,
Diego Alcala at No. 2, and Jessett at No. 4 to seal the win. Finishing off the sweep were
Pol Otin at No. 5, Aguiar in a tiebreak at No. 6, and Krolikowski at No. 1.
Fairfield Men's Tennis continues MAAC play this Sunday, March 29 with a trip to Merrimack. Action against the host Warriors begins with the women's match at 11 a.m. and the men's clash to follow.
