O'Brien Announces Incoming Women's Soccer Class

Fairfield University head women's soccer coach Jim O'Brien announced the programs incoming freshman class. Sydney Arestivo (Northport, N.Y.), Cassidy Boegel (Sudbury, Mass.), Anna Borea (New Canaan, Conn.), Brenna Brown (North Salem, N.Y.), Pam Coufos (North Andover, Mass.), Grace Landers (Teaneck, N.J.), Molly Moran (Monson, Mass.), Victoria Ortega (Dover, Mass.), Corinne Peabody (Louisville, Ky.) and Mikela Stilickas (Nesconset, N.Y.) will join the program for the Fall 2013 season. O'Brien also announced the addition of Haley Hilsenrath (Stamford, Conn.), who transferred to Fairfield for the Spring 2012 semester.

“My coaching staff and I are very excited about our incoming class of 2017,” said O'Brien.  “Both Associate Head Coach Sean Driscoll and Graduate Assistant and Goalkeeper Coach Kelly Boudreau have been instrumental in the recruitment of this quality class and I thank them for their efforts.   

O'Brien went on to say, “The number of recruits and the depth and talent level make it arguably one of our top recruiting classes to date.  Each and every student-athlete brings with her a great deal of experience and they have all seen success in both the club and high school level. With a strong corps of returners and this talented group of fresh faces the competition on the field will be fierce.  We feel that our senior leadership and ten young players will surely help us improve on our 2012 season.”

Arestivo is graduating from St. Anthony's High School where she earned two varsity letters and helped the Friar's win back-to-back state titles.  A team-captain as a senior, she was named Second Team All-Long Island and picked up MVP honors for her junior varsity team in as a sophomore.  Arestivo, a member of the National Honor Society, will compete for time in the midfield and up front.

Boegel comes to Fairfield from Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School where she helped the Warriors to 32 wins and consecutive league championships the past two seasons.  In her two varsity campaigns she compiled 55 points, with 22 goals and 11 assists as a senior, helping her to NSCAA All-Region and Massachusetts All-State accolades in 2012. A forward, Boegel earned team MVP accolades as a senior as well as picking up Boston Globe and Boston Herald All-Scholastic honors.

Borea earned four varsity letters at New Canaan High School, winning a state crown as a freshman.  She earned All-State honors in each of the past two seasons, serving as a team captain her senior year.  Borea, who will play on the back line at Fairfield, was named All-New England in 2011 and is a three-time All-CIAC honoree.

Brown, a senior at North Salem High School, is expected to compete for time as a midfielder or forward when she arrives on campus in the fall.  She joins the program after earning four varsity letters at North Salem High School, where she served as team captain the past two seasons.  Brown earned First Team All-State and Section one League Player of the Year during her senior season and is a two-time All-Section honoree.

Coufos joins the Fairfield midfield after earning scoring 25 goals with 18 assists in a four-year varsity career at North Andover High School.  She helped lead the Scarlet Knights to the 2011 state championship semifinals and earned her second Cape Ann League All-Star honor.  As a senior captain, Coufos had 22 points to pick up Merrimack Valley Conference All-Star and All-League accolades.

Landers earned four varsity letters as a back at Immaculate Heart Academy, where she led the Blue Eagles to a 57-2-5 record and three state championships.  As a senior captain she was named Third-Team All-State and All Non-Pubic First Team, as well as First Team All-County.  Landers, who was part of a league championship in each of her seasons, was also named First-Team All-League as a junior.

Moran earned four varsity letters at Wilbraham and Monson Academy, helping the Titans to 34 wins in the past three seasons.  Expected to see time in the midfield during her Fairfield career, she helped the Titans capture two Class B WWNEPSSA Championships during her career.

Ortega earned four varsity letters at Dover-Sherborn Regional High School, leading the Raiders to 56 wins and a 2011 Division II State Championship.  She scored 23 goals and had 33 assists over the course of her career, and served as team captain her final two seasons.  As a senior Ortega tallied 33 points as she earned All-State and All-New England honors, as well as Boston Globe and Boston Herald All-Scholastic accolades.

Peabody posted a 0.78 goals-against average in her three-year varsity career at Sacred Heart Academy.  She led the Valkyires' to 37 wins in those three years with a state runner-up finish as a junior, earning All-Region First Team honors.  As a senior Peabody posted a 0.64 GAA and earned All- Region honorable mention accolades.

Sticklickas earned three varsity letters at The Stony Brook School, leading the Lady Bears to three county championships and a 2010 New York State crown.  She earned All-State honors in both her junior and senior season and was named the Most Outstanding Player in the 2011 Class C Final.  Sticklickas a captain her final season, made 121 saves as a senior, against eight goals allowed.

Hilsenrath joined the program at the beginning of the Spring 2013 semester and trained with the team during the spring season.  A Westhill High School graduate, she earned four varsity letters and served as team captain her senior season.  As a junior, Hilsenrath led the Vikings to a 16-2-2 record and a Class LL Championship.
