FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University Women's Soccer team will travel to face the Saint Peter's Peacocks in the first game of their New Jersey swing with a Saturday afternoon kickoff at noon. The Stags currently sit in second place in the MAAC standings, just one point behind league-leading Sacred Heart.
Fairfield holds the highest winning percentage in the conference with an .857 mark in the MAAC and .846 overall. The Stags won their 10th match of the season in their last outing over Mount St. Mary's. Their 10 victories are tied for the fourth most in the nation and their .846 winning percentage places seventh in Division I. It is also the fourth-straight season and the sixth time under Head Coach
David Barrett that the Stags have reached double-digit victories.
The balanced scoring for the Stags continued in their 4-0 victory over the Mount with four different student-athletes tallying at least one goal. For the season, 12 different players have scored at least once this year with 15 picking up at least one point.
Maddy Theriault (8) and
Ashley McMahon (6) both rank in the top-six in the conference in scoring.
The win also marked the 50th of the year for senior goalkeeper
Katie Wright, who broke the program's all-time wins record which was set by Anne Lyons 25 years ago.
Saint Peter's enters play with a 1-5-1 mark in the MAAC. The team has scored 18 goals on the season with Julia Pinho Magno leading the team with five.
The Stags will continue their stay in the Garden State with a visit to Rider on Wednesday at 6pm.
