NEWARK, N.J. – Fairfield men's tennis took part in the NJIT Winter Invitational this past weekend to begin the second half of their season. The Stags tallied multiple wins over players from NJIT, Bucknell and Hofstra.
In Singles competition,
Jan Parizek tallied three wins on the day starting with a (6-3, 6-3) victory over Per Astrom of Bucknell. He then defeated Kian Ziari of Hofstra (6-1, 6-2). He finished up a strong performance with a win over Guillermo Torres of Bucknell (1-6, 7-5, 1-0 (11-9)).
Lewis Edwards also picked up two wins with a (6-1, 7-5) victory over Aidar Aidossov of NJIT and a (7-5, 2-6, 1-0 (10-3)) win over Jun Sasagawa of Hofstra.
Jonathan Olive-Blanco beat Chunyu Chen from Bucknell by a score of (6-1, 3-6, 1-0 (10-5)) and defeated Samuel Townes of NJIT (6-0, 7-5).
Tyler Shibles defeated Ostap Kovalenski of Hofstra (6-1, 6-3) while
Allan Magid tallied a win over Yusuke Nishitani of Hofstra (6-3, 6-4).
William Townsend Font also won his match against Luka Dragolijic (6-2, 6-2).
The Stags had a strong showing in Doubles competition as well.
Kaya Gore and
Jonathan Olive-Blanco defeated Josh Smith and Samuel Townes of NJIT (6-1).
Lewis Edwards and
William Townsend Font took down Shawn Jackson and Ostap Kovalenski from Hofstra (6-3). Edwards and Kaya teamed up to defeat Jun Sasagawa and Guyou Mahrt of Hofstra (6-2).
Jan Parizek and
Allan Magid won their mach over Daniel Sabogal and Luka Dragolijic of NJIT (6-3).
Tyler Shibles and
Griffin Schlesinger tallied a win over Juan Bejarano and Aidar Aidossov of NJIT (6-2).
Fairfield will return to action as they host Fordham on February 1 at 6 PM.
