HAMDEN, Conn. — Fairfield University Men's Tennis (5-14, 4-3 MAAC) narrowly fell at Quinnipiac (7-11, 4-3 MAAC) by a final score of 4-3 on Thursday at the QU Tennis Courts in Hamden.
Diego Alcala and
Domagoj Stabek earned singles wins for the Stags.
Fairfield secured the doubles point with decisive performances in the top two flights.
Kostas Kollias and
Kacper Krolikowski nabbed a 6-4 win at No. 1 while
Alex Aguiar and
Luca Benaibbouche rolled to a 6-1 triumph at No. 2 as the Stags picked up the point for an early lead.
On the singles courts, Alcala collected a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 2, while Stabek battled back to take a 5-7, 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 5. However, Quinnipiac was victorious on the four remaining courts to escape with a 4-3 decision.
Fairfield Men's Tennis concludes the regular season this Sunday against Niagara. The Stags will enter the weekend still in contention for a berth in the MAAC postseason.
