LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. – Thomas Urciuoli and Kellen Jordan each carded a 77 (+5) to set the pace for Fairfield University Men's Golf in the opening round of the 2018 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championship. As a team, the Stags rank ninth on the leaderboard after the first 18 holes of action at Disney's Magnolia Golf Course in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.
 
Uricuoli and Jordan are both three strokes out of the top 10. Siena's Michael Christifulli had the best round of the day with a 69 (-3) to take a three-shot lead into the clubhouse. Kevin Duncan added an 80 (+8) for Fairfield on Friday, with Eric Austin posting an 83 (+11) and Finn McGinnis turning in an 85 (+13).
 
The Stags aggregated a 317 in the opening round, five shots back of eighth place Niagara. Christifulli led Siena to a 293 to claim a two-stroke edge over Iona (295).
 
Saturday's second round tees off at 7:30 a.m. with the final round slated for Sunday.
