BERLIN, Md. — Fairfield University Men's Golf is tied for first place, and
Rasmus Ditzinger shares the top of the individual leaderboard after Round 1 of the Battle at Rum Pointe. The Stags and Iona the pair currently splitting the team lead through 18 holes in Berlin, Md.
Fairfield turned in a 287 (-1) as a team to tie for first at the midway point of the tournament. The Stags and Gaels are six strokes ahead of third-place Monmouth (293) followed by Dartmouth (294) and Colgate (297). The 16-team field also includes MAAC foes Sacred Heart, Saint Peter's, Manhattan, and Rider.
Ditzinger carded a 68 on Friday, tying Monmouth's Patrick Scenna for the individual lead in a field of 99 golfers. Kieran Cummins of Fordham is one shot back, and Fairfield's
Anthony Naples is among a six-man pack tied for fourth place at 71.
Tadgh Burke added a 73 for the Stags, while
Peter Crowe posted a 75.
Ben Madden fired a 78 playing as an individual, and
Drew Southwell rounded out Fairfield's Round 1 scoring with a 79.
The final round of the Battle at Rum Pointe tees off on Saturday morning.
