SEKONK, Mass. – Andrew Bilson and
Ty Ford tied for 31st place to lead Fairfield University Men's Golf at the Ryan T. Lee Memorial Collegiate at Ledgemont Country Club. As a team, the Stags finished 14th out of 18 squads.
Bilson and Ford both highlighted their 54-hole weekend with a round of 70 (-1). Ford fired his in Saturday's opening round and Ford turned in a 70 in Sunday's third and final trip through Ledgemont. Both Stags finished at 219 (+6), followed by
Jack Carew with a 223 in his Fairfield debut,
Tadgh Burke at 227, and
Ben Madden at 238. Carew also registered a 70 on Sunday to complete his tournament scorecard.
The Stags finished 14th on the team ledger, besting Hofstra, Eastern Connecticut State, and two quintets from Brown. Bryant won the team title with an 850 (-2) to top FDU by one stroke. Sacred Heart's Ronan Mooney was the weekend's individual medalist with a 202 (-11) fueled by an opening-round 63.
Fairfield Men's Golf is back on the course next week with three rounds in three days at the UConn Invitational at GREATHORSE from Sept. 27-29.
