SAVANNAH, Ga.-Sophomore Rasmus Ditzinger got his 2026 spring season off in fine style with a third place finish in a 108-golfer field at the 54-hole Savannah Intercollegiate Tournament, and as a team, the Fairfield University men's golf squad finished in a 12th place tie with Colgate University with a team total of +46 over the three rounds held at the Club at Savannah Harbor. A total of 18 teams took place in the 2026 Savannah Intercollegiate.
Ditzinger finished three strokes behind the duo of Milton Wallin of West Georgia and Hunter Swidzinski of Longwood who finished in a tie atop the individual leaderboard for the event at one under par.
Rasmus posted a score of two over par for the three rounds, as he finished with a three over par 75 in Sunday's third and final round after going -1 and even par in Saturday's first two rounds,
Playing as an independent, Fairfield's Drew Southwell, who had the team's second lowest scored over the final 18 holes with a +4, finished in 42nd place with a +12 total for the tournament.
Tadgh Burke finished one stroke in back of Southwell over the two days with a final total of +13 for the three rounds which put him into the top half of the field with a 49th place finish.
Anthony Naples was the next Stags' finisher in the 2026 spring opener going +15 for the 54-hole event in Georgia.
Joey Vandergeest went +6 on the tournament's final day to finish with a total score of +21 for the three rounds.
Peter Crowe rounded out the group of Stags in action in Savannah going +25 for the tourney.
As a team, Fairfield went +25 in Sunday's final round after posting team scores of +6 in round one and +15 over yesterday's  second 18 holes.
West Georgia won the team event at +24 topping Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference member Iona University by two strokes.
The Fairfield men's golf team will return to the links on Friday and Saturday March 27 and 28 in Berlin, Maryland at the Battle at Rum Pointe Tournament with the Iona Gaels serving as hosts.
