The Fairfield University softball split a pair of games this afternoon, shutting out Mt. St. Mary's by a 4-0 score before falling to Towson by a 14-1 count.
Destinee Pallotto picked up the shutout by allowing one hit and striking out 11 hitters.
Mikayla Rubin paced the offense with two hits and 3 RBI including a run producing double.
Lacey Olaff also picked up a pair of hits while
Rachel Sieber brought home the other run with a base hit.
In the second game, Towson scored early with two runs in the first inning before tacking on three more runs in the second frame. The Tigers put the game out of reach with a nine-run fourth inning. The Stags plated a run in the fifth inning, a solo home run by
Hannah Futo.
Fairfield will wrap up its tournament stay on Sunday by playing both teams once again.Â
