Biography

2020: Futo appeared in seven games during the 2020 campaign with three coming as a pinch hitter and three more as a designated hitter. Her only appearance in the field came against Yale on February 28. She registered a hit in two at-bats against Elon, starting the game as a designated hitter. She picked up a single in the game and brought home a run in a 6-4 setback. She earned a walk in three plate appearances against Penn which brought her season on-base percentage to .222.

2019: Futo worked her way into  11 games during the season with seven of those appearances coming as a starter. She entered her last three games as a pinch hitter and went one for three in those plate appearances. That hit came in the form of a double at Rider. Nine of her at-bats came as a designated player, going 2 for 9 with two RBI with the hits coming against Bethune-Cookman and Delaware State. When in the field, Futo played primarily shortstop, getting the nod against Oakland, UNC-Greensboro, UT-Martin, and Hartford (March 17).

2018:: Hannah Futo ended the campaign with a .265 batting average , enjoying her best run at the plate over the final seven games of the regular season. In that stretch, Futo posted nine hits in 18 at-bats (.500) and accounted for five of her seven RBI during that run. She had a five-game hitting streak end when she went hitless in the two games at Canisius. Futo also demonstrated her ability to work the count, earning 11 walks which helped her post a .386 on-base percentage, the third best average on the team. Futo collected two or more hits in five of the 12 games in which she registered a hit. The infielder owned a .321 mark against all MAAC opponents (9 for 28).

2017: Futo was one of the team’s primary pinch hitters, serving in that role for 17 of her 25 appearances in 2017 which included an at-bat against LSU in the NCAA Baton Rouge Regional. Her last start came against Sacred Heart on April 20 during which she went 1 for 3 with three RBI, a bases-clearing single to right center field. Her other RBI on the season was in her second career at-bat as she stroked an RBI double against UNC-Charlotte on February 25. She made it back-to-back games with a base hit when she followed the Charlotte game with a base hit and run scored versus Robert Morris in the same tournament. When in the field, Futo spent most of her time at third base although she did have a couple of stints at shortstop.

Before Fairfield: Hannah Futo begins her career as a Fairfield University student-athlete after graduating from Montverde Academy in Florida. The infielder enjoyed success but academically and athletically during her four years at the Academy. She finished her career as a hitter with a .342 batting average with four career home runs and 82 RBI. She registered 116 career hits during her four seasons with the program. Futo was a two-time team offensive most valuable player and served her team as captain during the 2016 campaign. She earned All-District honors as she helped the team capture the 2013 3A District title as well as the 2014, 2015, and 2016 4A District championships. In the classroom, Futo was a member of the National Honor Society, the National Society of High School Scholars, as well as the National Spanish Honor Society. She earned the school's Citizenship Award multiple times over her four years.
