Biography

2020: Ulzheimer started all eight of her appearances and posted a team-best .385 batting average. She stroked a hit in six of her eight games including three multiple-hit games. The outfielder averaged a team-best 1.25 hits per game. She opened the season with three hits, three runs scored, and one RBI at North Carolina. She later added an RBI and scored two runs in a win over Sacred Heart. She also added a pair of hits against Sacred Heart and North Florida. With her eight runs scored, Ulzheimer was the team’s co-leader in that category and was the only Stag to average one run scored per game. She was successful in all three of her stolen base attempts. She earned five walks which raised her on-base percentage to .484 which was the second-highest total on the team.

2019: Amanda Ulzheimer rebounded from a .188  batting average a year ago to lead the Stags with her .392 hitting percentage. With her renaissance, the outfielder earned All-MAAC first team and NFCA All-Region first team accolades. She set a personal best for hits in a season when she recorded her 56th base hit against Monmouth in the regular-season finale.  She posted a hit in 32 of her 45 starts with 19 of those 30 games including more than one hit. Ulzheimer had three or more hits six times, highlighted by a  four-hit day against UT-Martin. She nearly equaled her career total of RBI this year, driving home 13 runs, including two at Iona on April 27. She had five hits in a doubleheader this year, going 5 for 8 against Quinnipiac and 5 for 8 versus Canisius. Ulzheimer led the team in batting against the MAAC this year with a .373 hitting percentage, and scored a co-leading 11 runs in the 20 games. 

2018: Ulzheimer was a regular in the lineup this year, starting 30 of her 44 appearances. She ended the regular season with a .188 batting average with two doubles and five RBI. One of her doubles came against Manhattan, Her 17 runs scored were among the team’s best totals, a number aided by the fact that she scored one run in each of the final three regular season games.The sophomore had three games with two or more hits, highlighted by her three-hit effort against Fairleigh Dickinson. Ulzheimer was flawless in the outfield during the season, cleanly handling all 27 chances.

2017: Ulzheimer earned a spot on the All-MAAC second team and the MAAC All-Rookie team, the only freshman to earn a spot on both squads. She led Fairfield in hitting for most of the year and ended the year on top of the statistical sheet with a .342 batting average. The rookie placed ninth in the MAAC for batting average and led all conference freshmen in that category. She was also the team leader with 17 stolen bases (22 attempts) as well as runs scored (37). She earned the MAAC Rookie of the Week on March 7 after batting .667 (8 for 12) and owned  a .750 on-base percentage in her four starts that week. Ulzheimer did not start the first three games of the season, but ended the year with 51 consecutive starts. After serving a pinch-runner without an at-bat in her first two games, she came back with an eight-game hitting streak (14 for 24 - .583). She went hitless against Florida International but started another eight-game hitting streak one game later (13 for 29 - .448). The outfielder put together 16 multiple hit games in the regular season. On the base paths, Ulzheimer posted 17 stolen bases which ranked fifth in the MAAC.

Before Fairfield: Amanda Ulzheimer comes to Fairfield after a successful scholastic career at H. Frank Carey High School where she excelled in the classroom and on the diamond. As a member of the softball team, Ulzheimer batted better than .500 for her career including an impressive .537 mark as a senior. She also rank track during the winter months as a member of the 4 x 200 relay team, and also played soccer in the fall. For her all-around athletic prowess, she was presented with a Tri--Athlete award. The outfielder earned All-County honors during her four-year career.  She was listed as a player to watch by MSG Varsity and was a member of Newsday's Top 100 players in 2015 bAcademically, Ulzheimer was a member of the National Honor Society as well as the Science Honor Society. She garnered honors as a Nassau County Scholar-Athlete in her senior season.
