FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University men's tennis team competed in the Army Invitational over the weekend. The Stags battled against Stony Brook, Boston College, NJIT, and the host school, Army in West Point, New York.

In their first match of the weekend, Fairfield topped Stony Brook on Friday. The team earned one win in doubles action, Brad Orban and Tyler Shibles grabbed a 6-4 victory. And in singles play, Jeffrey Rodgers and Ethan Ammon both earned three set wins at the second and fourth position respectively. Dylan Appel and Shibles earned wins in the fifth and sixth spots to secure the Fairfield win.

The next day, the Stags took on Boston College and Orban grabbed the lone victory for Fairfield. At No. 1 singles, the junior won in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4. Against NJIT later in the day, the doubles team of Anthony Caputo and Rodgers came out victorious with a 6-4 win. And Shibles topped the Highlanders in the sixth position, 6-3, 6-4.

On Sunday the team matched up with the host school, Army. Orban was the lone victor in the No. 1 singles spot, 6-4, 6-2. Rodgers forced three sets in the second position, 4-6, 6-3, 5-10, while the other players were all swept in two.

"Overall we had a productive weekend," said Head Coach Jeff Bricker. "There were a lot of positives and a lot of areas where we can improve for this weekend's tournament at Yale."

The team will be back on the courts starting Friday at the Connecticut Championships hosted by Yale University in New Haven.
