FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University men's tennis team was selected to finish fourth in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Preseason Poll as announced by the league Thursday morning.

Marist College, the three-time defending MAAC Champion earned six of the eight first-place votes, grabbing the nod as preseason favorite. The Red Foxes totaled 61 points, eight more than second place Monmouth. Quinnipiac was voted third and grabbed one first-place vote to total 52 points.

Fairfield came in fourth with 40 points. Rounding out the preseason poll was Niagara (32), Saint Peter's (20), Rider (18), and Siena (12).

The Stags will be led this season by senior Ofir Solomon who will compete with a number of underclassmen including sophomore Brad Orban, freshman Jeffrey Rodgers, and 2015 All-MAAC Second Teamer Dylan Appel. Last season, Fairfield finished with an overall record of 6-8 and went 3-4 against MAAC foes. During the fall the Stags topped Rider in their lone conference matchup thus far.

The Stags will start the spring portion of their schedule on Sunday, February 7 at Boston University. For the team to qualify for the MAAC Championships they will have to finish as one of the top four teams in the conference. The postseason tournament is slated to begin on Saturday, April 30.
