Final Results
The Fairfield University men's golf team carded a 297 – its best round of the event – to move up two spots and finish in a 13th place tie at the Fireline Towson Invitational. The 54-hole event was played at the par-72, 6,761-yard Prospect Bay Country Club.
Scott Rainaud was the Stags top finisher at the event, shooting a 221 that tied him for 19th place. His +2 round of 74 in the final round moved him to +5 for the tournament. A stroke behind was Nick Taylor, who carded an even-par 72, the team's low score, in the final round. He finished tied for 24th with a +6, 222.
Richard Dowling shot a +1 round of 73 on Sunday, his best round of the weekend, and carded three birdies. He finished tied for 39th at the tournament, shooting a +9 score of 225. Eric Johnson also carded his best 18 holes of the weekend on Sunday, shooting a +6 round of 78. He finished the 54-holes at 240, +24, tied for 108th place. Patrick Lynch rounded out the Fairfield effort a stroke back of Johnson, in 112th place at 241.
Northern Colorado made up a four-shot deficit in the final round to play into a tie with Seton Hall, at +7, 871, for the team championship. Jay Mulieri of Loyola University Maryland finished as the individual champion with a 209, -3, final score.
The Stags are back in action April 16-17 at the Mount St. Mary's Spring Invitational in Gettysburg, Pa. The final event of the Stags non-championship season will be played at Quail Valley Golf Course.
