FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Three representatives of Fairfield University Men's Tennis will take the court on Friday in the opening day of the 2025 MAAC Masters Tournament. Action on campus at the Walsh Athletic Center Courts begins at 9 a.m. The tournament will feature 26 of the conference's top singles players and 17 of the premier doubles teams playing for the right to represent the MAAC next month at the ITA Conference Masters Championship in San Diego.
To ensure time to complete the entirety of the day's slate, Friday action has been split with the men's participants traveling to Fairfield and the women heading to Quinnipiac. The remainder of the weekend action for both the men and women will be held at Quinnipiac.
Kostas Kollias and
Calum Jessett will both kickoff the day with matches at 9 a.m. Kollias meets Aryav Bhawan of Niagara, and Alcala will challenge Ian Layton of Marist. At 10:30 a.m.,
Diego Alcala will be in action against Sacred Heart's Frederick McRae. All advancing players will return to the court later on Friday in the Round of 16.
The quarterfinals and semifinals of the singles bracket will be held on Saturday at Quinnipiac, with the MAAC Masters Championship Final set for Sunday.
Saturday's action in Hamden will also include the start of doubles play when the Fairfield teams of Alcala and
Alex Aguiar and the #3-seeded duo of Kollias and
Luca Benaibbouche take the court in the Round of 16.
