Box Score FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Kostas Kollias won two matches to advance to the quarterfinals and highlight the action for Fairfield University Men's Tennis on the first day of the MAAC Masters Tournament. Kollias returns to singles action and doubles play will begin on Saturday.
Friday's men's action was held on campus at the Walsh Athletic Center Outdoor Courts. The remainder of both the men's and women's tournaments will be hosted by Quinnipiac.
Kollias opened the day with a convincing 6-0, 6-0 win over Aryav Bhawan of Niagara in the Round of 32. The senior advanced to challenge Mount St. Mary's #6-seeded Alexi Roy, who earned a bye to the Round of 16. After splitting the first two sets – 6-1, 6-4 – Kollias rallied from a 5-3 deficit in the tiebreaker to clinch the match and advance to Saturday's quarterfinals.
Kollias will play #3 seed Matteus Froberg Dahlin on Saturday. The winner will also play a semifinal match later in the day in Hamden.

Calum Jessett and
Diego Alcala both fell in the Round of 32 in other action on Friday.
In addition to the continuation of the singles tournament, the doubles bracket will be underway on Saturday. Kollias will team with
Luca Benaibbouche to challenge Ian Layton and Gregor Heinemann of Marist, while the duo of Alcala and
Alex Aguiar challenges Quinnipiac's Csanad Nyaradi and Gaurav Mootha.
