HAMDEN, Conn. – Kacper Krolikowski advanced in the singles bracket and both Fairfield University Men's Tennis doubles teams won their matches to move on to the Quarterfinals of the 2026 Metro Conference Masters Tournament. The conference-wide event is emanating from Quinnipiac University this weekend.
Krolikowski defeated Siena's Bruno Loch Varella, 6-4, 6-3, to move on to Saturday's quarterfinal. Fifth-seeded Krolikowski will meet fourth-seeded Stefanos Pournaropoulos from Mount St. Mary's on Saturday morning.
Also in the singles bracket, second-seed
Diego Alcala was upended by Brandon Ramos from Marist, 6-3, 6-0.
In the doubles draw, Alcala and
Rodrigo Garza rolled past Merrimack's Tarik Zubovic and Juan Carlos Portilla Morales, 6-0, to advance to the quarterfinals. Krolikowski and
Calum Jessett will also compete in Saturday's quarterfinals after a 6-1 triumph over Tomasz Garbacz and Ferdinand Witting on Sacred Heart.
All advancing players and teams will compete in the Semifinals later in the day on Saturday. The singles and doubles championships will be held on Sunday.
The singles and doubles winners of the Metro Conference Masters will represent the Metro in the ITA Conference Masters Championship on Nov. 5-8 in Rome, Ga.
