FAIRFIELD, Conn. – For the third straight match, the Fairfield University men's soccer team will face an unbeaten team in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) standings. The Stags will host Iona University, currently holding a 2-0 mark in MAAC action, on Saturday night at Lessing Field. The game is scheduled for a 7 pm start.

th-ranked Marist University last Wednesday, knocking the Red Foxes from the unbeaten ranks. Freshman

Illia Tyrkus was also instrumental in the win with a goal and an assist. Goalkeeper
Evan Chomow made six saves to keep Marist in check over 90 minutes.
Vaz and Albritton ranks second and third respectively among the MAAC goal scoring leaders. Vaz's five goals are just two off the pace set by Saint Peter's Tim Strele while Albritton is in a five-way tie for the third spot.
Cameron Gerber remains in the top slot for assists with five, giving him seven points on the season.
The Stags also boast one of the top goalkeepers in the conference with Chomow leading the MAAC with his .792 save percentage and placing second with a 1.23 goals against average. The freshman has allowed one goal or less in seven of his nine starts this season, picking up clean sheets against Monmouth and Niagara.
The Gaels enter the Saturday night meeting with a 4-2-2 overall record and a 2-0 MAAC mark. The team has won four of its last five outings including a 5-3 come-from-behind decision over Saint Peter's and a 3-2 victory at Canisius. Iona is the top scoring team in MAAC play with its eight goals in two games.
The team's balanced attack includes 10 individual goal scorers this season with six of those student-athletes tallying a pair of goals on the year. Calle Sjoberg is one of those two-goal scorers with one of his goals coming in the second half of Iona's win over Saint Peter's. Jorde Aitor posted both of his season goals against the Peacocks which included the game-winner in the 72
nd minute.
Two goalkeeper have shared time on the pitch for Iona with Fernando Alves Schmelz collecting the most minutes (450:00) so far. He owns a 1.60 goals against average with .680 save percentage off 17 saves. Josh Bells earned 270 minutes to date which he used to establish a 1.33 goals against average with a .600 save percentage off six saves.
Following the Iona match, the Stags will take to the road for a meeting at Rider University on Saturday, October 11 before returning to Lessing Field for a midweek game against Merrimack College on October 15.
