FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University men's soccer team will play its only match of the week when it travels to Siena College on Saturday afternoon. The two team will face each other at 3 pm on the Loudonville campus.
Both teams enter the weekend with a 1-0 record in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) play are represent two of the six unbeaten teams in the conference after the first week of competition. The Stags are one of five MAAC teams to own a record of .500 or better, bringing a 3-3-1 overall record into the competition with Siena. The Saints, who have played two teams in the national poll, earned a 2-4-1 record through their first seven games.
The Stags come off a 4-2 loss to defending national champion and ninth-ranked University of Vermont last Saturday. Fairfield held a 2-0 lead at the half, benefitting from goals from
Sean Albritton and
Jordan Blunschi. After an own goal allowed the Catamounts to cut the deficit in half, Vermont rallied for three more goals to come away with the win.
Albritton has scored a goal in three of his four appearances, tying him with
Alex Vaz for the team leading in scoring. Both rookies have three goals and six points on the season, one point better than
Cameron Gerber's five points. All of Gerber's points come off assists, playing a role in five of the team's 11 goals scored thus far.
Goalkeeper
Evan Chomow, who registered his second shutout of the campaign against Niagara, remains one of the top goalkeepers in the MAAC with his 1.29 goals against average and .723 save percentage. The freshman has 29 saves through his seven appearances.
Six different Saints have a goal this season with Campbell Stalker pacing the offense. The sophomore has three goals for six points in seven games played. Mario Navarro Perez is also a multiple goal scorer in 2025 with a pair of goals in six appearances including one game winner. He tallied two goals in the final 10 minutes of regulation to defeat Manhattan College by a 3-2 count on the road.
Bennett Glinder earned his first clean sheet of the season in the team's last outing, a scoreless draw against the University at Albany last Tuesday. He made four saves against Albany, lowering his goals against average to 2.15 and his goals against average to .667 (28 saves).
The Stags will finish up its brief two-game road trip next Wednesday when they travel to unbeaten Marist College. The Red Foxes are currently 5-0-2 overall and 1-0-0 in the MAAC after defeating Quinnipiac University by a 5-2 score on September 20.
