FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Julia Towne and Colin Summers – standout members of Fairfield University Golf – have both qualified to participate in this month's U.S. Amateur Championships. Towne will play at the U.S. Women's Amateur Championship beginning Monday, Aug. 5. Summers is set to play in the U.S. Amateur Championship on Monday, Aug. 12.
 
Towne recently completed a two-year career with Fairfield Women's Golf as a graduate student. She was an All-MAAC performer in both of her seasons as a Stag, placing fifth at the MAAC Championship in 2023 and fourth in 2024. This past spring, Fairfield earned its best-ever 54-hole team score at the MAAC Championship en route to a second place finish.
 
Towne carded a 67 (-3) in a qualifying event at Knoll Country Club West in Boonton, N.J. to claim her place in the national field. The U.S. Women's Amateur Championship will feature a field of 156 competitors. Stroke play beginning on Aug. 5 at Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Okla. The top 64 will advance to match play, with the champion crowed on Sunday, Aug. 11.
 
Summers, who is entering his senior season at Fairfield in the fall, most recently carded an even-par 216 to help guide the Stags to second place at the 2024 MAAC Championship.
 
Summers heads to Hazeltine National Golf Club in Chaska, Minn. after posting a 70 (-2) at a qualifier at Wykagyl Country Club in New Rochelle. He joins a 312-golfer field at the U.S. Amateur Championship. Summers begins stroke play on Monday, Aug. 12. The top 64 finishers will move on to match play to ultimately decide the U.S. Amateur champion on Sunday, Aug. 18.
