FLEMING ISLAND, Fla.-The Fairfield University men's golf team opened its 2024 season on Friday at the two-day, Sacred Heart Spring Break Invitational taking place at the Eagle Harbor Golf Club in Fleming Island, Florida. On day one of action, the Stags finished with a team score of 302 putting them in eighth place out of nine teams. Host Sacred Heart sits in first place after day one of play totaling a two under par 286. A total of only 10 strokes separate teams four through nine on the leaderboard.
Juniors Jonathan Bushka and Chase Millar shot Friday's lowest scores for the Stags, as they each totaled a one over par 73 to finish day one in a tie for tenth place.
Marcus Lim of Sacred Heart tops the leaderboard after day one shooting a four under par 68.
Junior Colin Summers and freshman Anthony Naples rounded Fairfield's top four scores in Friday's opening round, each shooting a 76 (+4).
Play at the Sacred Heart Spring Break Invitational will come to a close with 18 holes on Saturday on the Sunshine State.
