Box Score FAIRFIELD, Conn. – A dominating performance from end to end Sunday afternoon saw the Fairfield University men's tennis team take down Mount St. Mary's in a 7-0 sweep at the WAC Tennis Courts. With the victory the Stags now move to 1-1 in conference play in their first action on campus this spring.
"It was good for the men to put in a gritty performance and get back in the win column," said Head Coach Jeff Bricker. "We are banged up, but if we keep pushing, we will get to where we want to get. Now to get some rest before Siena on Tuesday!"
Fairfield opened the afternoon in topflight doubles action as Tolunay Sumer and senior Jonathan Olive-Blanco teamed up for a 6-2 victory that combined with a win for Kaya Gore and Alex Aguiar in the No. 3 contest, 6-4, gave the Stags the doubles point on the afternoon. Olive-Blanco also lined up in the No. 1 spot in singles where he won a straight set contest 6-4, 6-2, and Gore claimed the No. 2 duel 7-5, 6-4 to give the Stags a 3-0 advantage in the match.
