STORRS, Conn. – A dominant performance early Wednesday afternoon at UConn, Fairfield University women's tennis took a clean sweep in the doubles round to secure the point in a 6-1 defeat against another strong BIG EAST rival.

Starting the victories for the Stags was the topflight tandem of Paulina Bakaite and Lize-Alet Morkel who earned a 6-4 win over the Huskies' Olivia Wright and Maria Constantinou. Earning their first win as a partnership Wednesday afternoon, Bakaite also earned what is now her team leading fourth overall win in doubles action dating back to the fall campaign. Also capturing their first win together this season were Francesca Karman and Sarah Liu who defeated UConn's Aleksandra Karamyshev and Isabel Petri Bere by the same scoreline of 6-4, which would also clinch the double round for Fairfield.

Aina March and Scarlett Hutchinson slotted in the No. 3 contest, dueling with the Huskies' Caroline Cook and Cameron Didion from end to end, taking them to a winner take all tiebreak from which the Stags would prevail 8-6 to secure the sweep of the round. In singles play, the hosts would take the six singles rounds to take the match victory, despite strong efforts by Bakaite, Liu, and March who all took their opponents to near tiebreaks in at least one round of their respective matches.

Fairfield women's tennis returns to action this Saturday when they close a three-match road trip to open the spring as they head up to UMass. First serve from Amherst, Mass. Is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
