Stags Fall to Top-Seeded QU in MAAC Semifinals

PRINCETON, N.J. — Fairfield University Women's Tennis saw its 2025-26 season come to an end with a 4-1 loss to top-seeded Quinnipiac on Friday in the MAAC Championship Semifinals at Princeton's Cordish Family Outdoor Tennis Center. Anna Neyestani accounted for Fairfield's point with a win at No. 2 Singles.

Quinnipiac got out to an early lead in doubles, securing the pivotal point with win at No. 2 and No. 3 flights. Neyestani and Maria Gell – an All-MAAC First Team doubles tandem – saw their match in the top flight abandoned while knotted at 5-5.

On the singles courts, Neyestani earned a 6-2, 7-5 win in the No. 2 spot. However, the Bobcats picked up decisions at Nos. 1, 5, and 6 to clinch the match, 4-1, and advance to Sunday's MAAC Championship Match.

At the time the match ended, Sophia Harris led at No. 3 in the third set – 6-3, 3-6, 2-1 – and Nicolette Loeffler was on the brink of sending her match at No. 4 to a third frame at 4-6, 6-5.

The Stags were the fourth-seeded team in the conference championship. Fairfield ends the campaign at 7-13 overall, including a 5-3 record in the MAAC regular season.
