Senior Day on Saturday Highlights Final Home Weekend

Fairfield will host Siena and Marist to close out the regular season home slate

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Fairfield University Volleyball takes to Leo D. Mahoney Arena for the final time in the regular season this weekend with visits from MAAC foes Siena and Marist on Nov. 4-5. First serve on both Saturday and Sunday is slated for 1 p.m. The Stags will celebrate Senior Day prior to Saturday's matchup with the Saints.

The Fairfield University Stags (16-6, 12-2 MAAC)
  • The Stags win over Manhattan on Wednesday moved them into a tie for first place in the MAAC with Quinnipiac.
  • As the regular season series between Fairfield and QU was split with both matches decided by a 3-1 score, the Bobcats have secured the tiebreaker by a single point per the MAAC Tiebreaker Policy. The two teams have identical schedules remaining, hosting Siena and Marist this weekend before traveling to Rider and Saint Peter's next weekend.
  • The Stags hit .323 in Wednesday's win over the Jaspers, led by 10 kills at .368 clip from Mamie Krubally. Allie Elliott added eight kills on .250 hitting, with Janna Schlageter and Maya Walker combining for 13 finishers – seven and six, respectively – with neither player committing an error.
  • On the defensive side, the Stags limited Manhattan to .099 hitting. The Jaspers are the eighth opponent that Fairfield has kept under .100 this season overall and the seventh in 14 MAAC contests.
  • The Stags lead the MAAC in hitting percentage (.205) and rank ninth nationally with a MAAC-leading opponent hitting percentage of .150.

The Siena College Saints (2-23, 2-13 MAAC)
  • Siena is on a nine-match losing streak to drop to 2-23 on the season. Both of the Saints' victories this fall have come against Saint Peter's.
  • Fairfield swept Siena, 3-0, in Loudonville on Sept. 23. Allie Elliott paced Fairfield with a double-double (10 kills, 10 digs) in that contest, while the Saints got 10 kills from Sara Wagner.
  • Siena is one of the top blocking teams in the MAAC, ranking third with 1.83 rejections per set.
  • Offensively, Wagner leads the Saints with 2.88 kills per set, good for ninth in the conference.

The Marist College Red Foxes (12-14, 10-5 MAAC)
  • Marist split a home weekend against Niagara and Canisius last weekend, taking a 3-1 match from the Purple Eagles and dropping a 3-1 contest to the Griffs.
  • The Red Foxes, who visit Quinnipiac on Saturday before coming to Mahoney Arena, enter the weekend in third place in the MAAC at 10-5.
  • The Red Foxes led on attack by MAAC Preseason Player of the Year Sasha van der Merwe, who tops the conference with 3.63 kills per set.
  • Jordan Newblatt and Gabriella Heimbauer are also among the MAAC top 10 with 3.39 and 2.97 kills per frame, respectively.
  • Marist handed Fairfield one of its two conference losses in five sets on Sept. 24 in Poughkeepsie. Van der Merwe had a match-high 23 kills for Marist, with Newblatt adding 20. Mikayla Haut paced the Stags with 12 kills.
