BOSTON – Fairfield University Volleyball completed a two-win day with a 3-2 victory over host Northeastern on Saturday in Boston.
Emma Bortolotti recorded 14 kills and 12 digs to pace the Stags in the road triumph.
Fairfield, which also defeated Holy Cross on Saturday, evens its record to 3-3 with the win. Northeastern now stands at 1-3 on the campaign. The Stags earned the win by set scores of 25-23, 25-23, 24-26, 19-25, and 15-7.
"I was pleased with how we were able to grind out some close sets tonight and with the way we kept our composure when Northeastern made their run," said Head Coach
Nancy Somera. "The next step is to maintain a higher level of play from the first point of the weekend to the last; we will continue that process in our practice gym this week with another tough non-conference weekend coming up."
Bortolotti led eight Stags with kills in the match, putting down 14 and setting a new career high with 12 digs. The sophomore right side also served up a career-best four aces and had a hand in three blocks.
Mamie Krubally put down 12 kills from the right, with
Harlan Wyche and
Aislin Oldach recording seven kills apiece.
Sophia Nagy chipped in five kills on .364 hitting,
Katelyn Cook added four,
Mia Jean Claude put down two, and
Zofia Sykut dumped one over from the setter spot. Sykut doled out 36 assists running the attack to a .205 clip.
With four service aces apiece, Bortolotti and Sykut accounted for eight of Fairfield's 12 winners on the day. Wyche and
Natalie Carlin each served up two, while Cook and
Julie Dufourt landed one apiece.
Bortolotti and Carlin led the back row as each picked up 12 digs. Cook, who donned the libero jersey for the fifth set, had eight digs and Krubally tied a personal best with six. At the net, Nagy had a hand in a team-leading six of Fairfield's 11 blocks. Krubally got a piece of five, including a solo stuff, with Wyche sending back four Northeastern offerings.
The Huskies' Emma Rowell led all players with 19 kills, and Brynn Smith put down 15 on .419 hitting for the hosts.
A third consecutive road weekend is up next as Fairfield travels to Long Island for the Hofstra Invitational. The Stags meet Army West Point on Friday, Sept. 11 at 7 p.m. and will challenge Liberty on Saturday, Sept. 12 at 1 p.m. Army will head to Hofstra at 5-1; Liberty is currently 3-2 with a Sunday game with High Point on tap before making the trek north.
The home schedule begins the following weekend with the Fairfield Invitational at Leo D. Mahoney Arena on Sept. 17-19.

- Fairfield is 1-1 in five-set matches this season and 7-7 when a match goes five sets under Head Coach Nancy Somera (2023-present).
- The Stags evened the all-time series with Northeastern at 8-8. Fairfield has won the last three with the Huskies, including victories in back-to-back campaigns.
- Northeastern is led by former Fairfield assistant coach Brendan McGourn, who was on Nancy Somera's staff for the 2023 and 2024 MAAC Championship seasons.
