Holub Announces Five-Match Fall Schedule for Men’s Golf

FAIRFIELD - Director of Fairfield University Men's Golf, Doug Holub, has announced a five-match calendar for the fall 2022 campaign. The Stags will play their first four matches throughout the Nutmeg State before a final two-day competition in Pennsylvania in late October.

The slate of tournaments selected by the Stags' sixth-year director will see Fairfield men's golf open the season for the seventh year in a row at the Ryan T. Lee Memorial Collegiate hosted by Central Connecticut State on Sept. 10-11. Following the opener at CCSU, the Stags will compete in the Hartford Hawks Invitational on Sept. 19-20, a tournament that has been a staple of the fall calendar for more than 10 years. A short four-day break will separate the second and third competitions of the season, as the men's squad will make the short drive up I-95 to New Haven, Sept. 24-25 at The Macdonald Cup hosted by Yale University.

Following the Stags' trip up the coast, a two-week break will give the Stags time to prepare for their final two matches of the fall, beginning Oct. 16-17 when they head back on the highway to Great River Golf Course in Milford for the SHU Fall Invitational. After spending the first four matches within state borders, the Stags will make their lone trip away from Connecticut for the fall finale Oct. 21-22 at the Lehigh Invitational in Bethlehem, Pa.

After finishing tied for third at the MAAC Championships last spring, the Stags will look to build off the 2021-22 campaign, which saw the first full year of competition since 2018-19, as the team nabbed a pair of victories as part of seven top-five finishes while also tallying the lowest average team score in the program's history. Individually, four players set new lowest average scores that moved each of them into the all-time lowest scores in program history as well.

The Spring 2022 schedule will be unveiled following the fall campaign.
