ORLANDO, FLA. – A pair of Stags sit amongst the leaders at the 2022 men's MAAC Golf Championships helping Fairfield University men's golf to a third place finish in the opening round Friday.
At eight shots over par as a team Fairfield sits tied with Rider, three strokes ahead of both Canisius and Monmouth, with second through eighth currently separated by just nine shots. Siena sits second at +6 for the round, while Iona leads the team scores at -1 overall.
Leading the Stags on day one was Jason Salameno and Patrick McCarthy who each shot one over par on the day and are tied with four other competitors for a share of 6th place in the 45-player field. Killian McGinley sits just two shots pack of the aforementioned pair at +3 after the opening round, tied for 18th place along with Colin Summers. Patrick Ryan finished tied for 33rd to round out the day for Fairfield, shooting six over on the day.
Round two of the 2022 MAAC Championships is set for tomorrow on Disney's Magnolia Golf Course.
