Box Score WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – A dominating start to the 2022 MAAC season saw Fairfield University women's tennis sweep Monmouth 7-0, Friday to open conference play with a victory.

Paulina Bakaite and Sandra Bozinovic earned the first win of the day for the Stags at No. 3 doubles, taking the duel, 6-4. After Monmouth captured a victory in the top flight, the No. 2 contest saw Amanda Nowak and Katarina Plumtree team up for a 6-4 win as well to secure the doubles point for their side.
Four different Stags swept both duels they competed in across the two rounds, highlighted by Plumtree at No. 2 singles, as she gave up just two games in a straight set victory, 6-1, 6-1. Nowak also dominated in the No. 3 contest, winning 12 of 16 games played for a 6-2, 6-2 win, her seventh victory of the season.
Bozinovic also completed a 2-0 day for herself in singles play, improving to 15-5 as she took the top flight in three sets, 6-2, 4-6, 1-0 (10-6), and Bakaite fought off her opponent at No. 4 singles in the first set 7-6, before dominating the second, taking it 6-1 to secure her first win of the season. Alongside the four sweeps for Fairfield, Aina March nabbed a straight set win in the No. 5 match, 6-2, 6-3, and Sophia Prinos rounded out the day with a three-set victory, 6-1, 3-6, 1-0 (10-7).
Fairfield women's tennis is back in action Sunday when they return home to host Niagara. First serve is currently scheduled for 12:00 p.m. from the WAC Tennis Courts.
