HANOVER, N.H. -  A pair of Stags advanced to Day two of ITA Regionals at Dartmouth University this weekend, highlighting the weekend for Fairfield University women's tennis.

"Overall, I think we had a very solid showing this weekend, said Head Coach Jeff Bricker. We showed we can hang with the best teams in the region."

On day one of the tournament, Scarlett Hutchinson and Katarina Plumtree teamed up as one of two doubles teams sent out by Coach Bricker, defeating their opponents from Bryant University, 8-6. Francesca Karman and Charlie Morkel made up the other tandem, going to a tiebreak in their opening round before taking down their opponents from Colgate 8-7 ^7-1, but both teams would be defeated in round two.

In the singles rounds, Lize-Alet Morkel dominated in her opening match, dropping just one game to her opponent from Merrimack 6-1, 6-0 to advance to day two. Sarah Liu also one her opening round contest, taking down her opponent from Colgate 3-6, 7-5, 1-0 ^11-9. Hutchinson and Plumtree were defeated in their opening round contests, leaving a pair of Stags to advance to day two where both Morkel and Liu were defeated in their first matches of the day.

Fairfield women's tennis is back in action Sunday Oct. 23 when they make their lone appearance of the fall campaign at the WAC Tennis Courts where they will take on Monmouth at 12:00 p.m.
