BETHLEHEM, Pa. – A pair of 73 rounds at just one over par in each for senior Killian McGinley capped off a strong fall campaign for him and the entire Fairfield University men's golf program at the Lehigh Invitational from Saucon Valley Country Club.
McGinley opened the tournament by leading a pair of top-25's for the Fairfield Five, placing tied for 14th after day one, and joined by Shane DeVincenzo who carded an opening round 75 to place in a deadlock for 24th in the field. On day two, DeVincenzo would tally the same score at three over par to finish in a tie for 25th to help the Stags as a team to a seventh-place finish alongside Holy Cross in the 15-team heat.
Third to finish was Michael McCarthy who made his first contributions to the Fairfield team score as a member of the quintet, improving by nine strokes to card a one over, 73 in the final round, which bumped him up 23 spots on the leaderboard to place in a tie for 40th. Jason Salameno became the third Fairfield player to match his scores across the two rounds, registering a pair of 79's to come home tied for 51st, followed by Colin Summers who placed within a six-way tie for 55th to round out the Stags' starting five.
With the fall 2022 campaign now in the books, the Stags' men's golf squad has now participated in a total of five tournaments and 12 total rounds of competition, which included a total of 13 Top-25 finishes, highlighted by last week's individual victory for Summers at the SHU Fall Invitational and a share atop the leaderboard as a team that same weekend, placing tied with the host Pioneers for first place, the first team win for the Stags this season as well.
