ATHENS, Ga. – Rasmus Ditzinger tees off Round 1 at the NCAA Athens Regional hosted by the University of Georgia at 9:50 AM on Monday, May 18. The 54-hole regional will be held from May 18-20 at the UGA Golf Course.
Ditzinger, who is named the unanimous MAAC Player of the Year, earned the MAAC's automatic berth with as the 2026 MAAC Champion. The sophomore birdied three of the last four holes to win the conference crown by one stroke with a 212 (-4) over the 54-hole tournament last month. He was the lone golfer of the 49 finishers to shoot par or better in all three rounds of the event.
Including the MAAC Championship, Ditzinger has won four tournaments this season with a total of eight top-three finishes in 10 events, including all five of his spring outings. He was previously named Fairfield Athletics Men's co-Athlete of the Year in addition to a unanimous All-MAAC First Team selection.
Ditzinger joins a field that includes Auburn, Illinois, Vanderbilt, BYU, Georgia, Louisville, Kansas, Northwestern, College of Charleston, Rice, Southern Mississippi, Harvard, and Howard.
Fairfield University Men's Golf will send a representative to an NCAA Regional for the third time in four seasons. In 2023, Killian McGinley earned an individual bid as the MAAC Champion. Last season, the Stags won the MAAC Championship made their first-ever team appearance in the NCAA postseason.
The top five teams and the top individual that is not a part of one of those teams from each of the six regional sites will advance to the NCAA Championship set for May 29 through June 3 at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California.
