FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Action came to the Walsh Athletic Center courts for the first time this season as Fairfield University Men's Tennis hosted the Fairfield Invitational. The Stags competed in singles matches against Bryant and Quinnipiac, and played doubles against duos from St. Francis, Wesleyan, and Fordham.
Â
"We had a rocky start on Friday with a lackluster round of doubles, but I was pleased with our response later on Friday and throughout the weekend" said Head Coach
Jeff Bricker. 'We picked up some nice wins over regional foes and we gained more experience, which is the most important thing during this time of the year."
Â
Fairfield won eight of 11 singles matches this weekend, including 2-0 performances for
Kaya Gore,
Charlie Morkel and
Sam Hodges.
Griffin Schlesinger and
Andrew Immink each posted a 1-1 mark in singles play.
Â
The Stags' two doubles wins came from the tandem of Gore and Morkel and the pairing of Schlesinger and Immink.
