SOUTH KENT, Conn. – Patrick Ryan carded a final round 69 (-3) on Tuesday to surge 10 spots on the leaderboard and set the pace for Fairfield University Men's Golf this week at the Hartford Hawks Invitational. Ryan finished tied for 17th place in the 114-golfer field at the 54-hole tournament.

Ryan's -3 on Tuesday was the low round for the Stags, who placed 10th of 18 teams on the overall ledger. Fairfield was the top finisher among five MAAC programs, besting Rider, Canisius, Manhattan and Saint Peter's in addition to Fordham, Bryant, Wagner and Hofstra.

Patrick McCarthy all finished in the top half of the individual field DeVincenzo joined Ryan as the two Stags to fire a round under par, as he carded a 71 (-1) to begin his week.

UCF ran away with the tournament title, topping second place Seton Hall by 35 strokes as the only squad to finish under par. The Knights were led by the event's top three finishers, including medalist Johnny Travale, who tore up the course with a final round 64 (-8) to top the final leaderboard.

The Stags are back in action this weekend at the Course at the Yale for the Macdonald Cup. Fairfield will play 36 holes on Saturday, Sept. 25 with the final round set for Sunday, Sept. 26.
