BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Fairfield University Men's Tennis got off to a strong start to the 2021-22 season, winning 29 of 35 matches at the Lehigh Invitational. The Stags won all 11 of their doubles contests in addition to an 18-6 mark in singles action. The competition at the invitational was comprised of Howard, defending MAAC Champion Monmouth and the host Mountain Hawks.
 
"It was a great weekend at Lehigh," said Head Coach 
Jeff Bricker. "Going undefeated in doubles was fantastic, and we showed a lot of energy and poise to go 18-6 in singles as well. And a shout out to our four newcomers who all picked up their first wins as Stags."
 
All nine Stags earned at least one win in both singles and doubles action. Leading the effort were 
Sam Hodges, 
Charlie Morkel and 
Griffin Schlesinger, who all went 3-0 in singles and 3-0 in doubles play. 
Kaya Gore (2-0, 2-0) and 
Andrew Immink (3-0, 1-0) were also both undefeated in their four respective matches on the weekend.
 
Jonathan Olive-Blanco and 
Will O'Brien both went 3-0 in doubles and notched one singles win apiece. Rounding out the showing in Bethlehem, 
Stefan Mitrovic and 
Keean Shah each went 2-0 in doubles with one singles triumph.
 
Though this weekend's matches were not officially "dual" competitions the Stags aggregated winning records against all three of their foes. Fairfield was 5-4 in singles and 4-0 in doubles against Lehigh, 5-3 in singles and 4-0 in doubles against Monmouth, and swept eight singles and three doubles outings against Howard.
 
Up next for the Stags, action comes to the Walsh Athletic Center Outdoor Courts for the first time this fall for the Fairfield Invitational on Sept. 24-26.
