PHILADELPHIA – For four days, representatives from Fairfield University Men's Tennis went toe-to-toe with the top players in the region at the ITA Northeast Regional Championship. The Stags totaled six wins on the weekend, with all five Stags to make the trip earning at least one victory.

"We had a very successful week with multiple guys making the main draw and earning wins," said Head Coach Jeff Bricker. "We also showed that we are moving up in the region with some outstanding performances against the elite of our region. I'm really excited moving forward to see how far this team can push themselves."

In singles action, Sam Hodges was the first Stag to get on the board. The freshman rolled past Brian Chong from Brown – 6-2, 6-2 – in the opening round of qualifying but was stopped short of the main draw by Jayden Templeman of Columbia in a close two-setter – 6-7 (3), 5-7.

Three Stags were represented in the main draw and all three earned wins. Charlie Morkel and Jonathan Olive-Blanco both advanced to the round of 64 and Kaya Gore, who earned a bye as a seeded player, swept Drexel's Xandy Hammitt to move into the round of 32. Gore was the last Stag standing when he fell – 6-4, 6-3 – to Niels van Noord of Monmouth on Sunday afternoon.

On the doubles courts, Olive-Blanco and Keean Shah picked up a pair of victories. The duo won their first qualifying match over a team from Hofstra and, despite being edged in the next round, advanced to the main draw as a replacement squad and took advantage of the opportunity with a win over a pair from Brown. In the round of 32, Olive-Blanco and Shah were on the short side of an 8-7 (8) thriller against a duo from Fairleigh Dickinson.

Up next, the Stags will close out the fall at the Yale Invitational on Nov. 5-7 at the Cullman-Heyman Tennis Center in New Haven.
