Two Newcomers Set to Join MAAC Champion Stags

2019 fall slate begins Sept. 13-15 at the Quinnipiac Invitational

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Head Coach Jeff Bricker has announced the two newcomers who will join Fairfield Women's Tennis beginning this fall. Laina Campos and Francesca Karman comprise the defending MAAC Champion Stags' incoming Class of 2023.

Campos comes to Fairfield from Scarsdale, N.Y., as the #1 Singles player at the Ursuline School in New Rochelle. Campos reached the New York Doubles State Finals in each of the last four seasons, including winning a pair of State Championships. She is the younger sister of Gabriella Campos '19, who was a senior co-captain of the Stags last season.

Francesca Karman is from Port Washington, N.Y. She ranked as high as #63 in the nation as a doubles player and was among the top 200 singles players in the nation in singles from ages 12-16. Karman is graduate of Paul D. Schreiber High School.

"I'm very excited to welcome Laina and Francesca to the Stag family," said Bricker, the 2019 MAAC Coach of the Year. "They were great cheerleaders on the sidelines as spectators this past spring, but I know they're ready to get on the court and help us continue to be successful. They will be great additions and should help us right away."

Fairfield's MAAC Championship in 2019 was the 11th in program history as well as the team's fifth NCAA postseason appearance. The upcoming fall slate begins on Sept. 13-15 at the Quinnipiac Invitational in Hamden.
