HAMDEN, Conn. – Two doubles teams from Fairfield University Women's Tennis saw their tournament runs come to an end in the semifinal round of the MAAC Masters Tournament. The duo of
Maria Gell and
Anna Neyestani and the tandem of
Sophia Harris and
Regina Herrera both won two matches on the weekend before bowing out on Sunday morning in Hamden.
Gell and Neyestani were the tournament's #4 seed pitted against the top-seeded team of Willow Renton and Caitlin Flower from Quinnipiac. The Bobcat pair took the semifinal match by a score of 7-5.
The rookie duo of Harris and Herrera were in a matchup of unseeded teams in the semifinals. The Stags ultimately fell to Sacred Heart's pairing of Ola Irla Bartyzel and Ava Nelson.
The advancing teams will go head-to-head later today in the MAAC Masters Tournament Final. The winners will go on to represent the MAAC at the ITA Conference Masters next month in San Diego.
