ALBANY, N.Y. – Fairfield University Women's Basketball freshman
Lou Lopez-Senechal was named the 2019 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Rookie of the Year in the conference's award show on Friday. Lopez-Senechal led the Stags with 11.8 points per game and has recorded four of the team's six 20-point outings.

Joe Frager said. "She is a talented young woman with a strong work ethic and is very coachable. She did a great job for us and has a bright future ahead."

Despite missing the first nine games of the season, Lopez-Senechal made her presence felt with a team-best 11.8 points per game while also chipping in 4.6 rebounds per contest. She recorded one double-double when she netted 12 points and pulled down a career-high 10 rebounds at Saint Peter's. She also dished out a personal-best six assists in that contest.

She scored in double figures 13 times during her 21 game season and led the team in points in nine of those games. Two of her four 20-point games have come in the last two outings, including a 20-point performance against Niagara in the MAAC Championship First Round game.

Lopez-Senechal becomes the ninth Stag to win the award and the first since Candice Lindsay in 2004.

Along with Lopez-Senechal major award, a conference-best nine Stags were named to the MAAC All-Academic team by maintaining a GPA of 3.2 or higher.
