HOPEWELL, N.J. – The Fairfield University Women's Basketball duo of
Meghan Andersen and
Kaety L'Amoreaux were named to the Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year Preseason Watch List, comprising two of the 25 top mid-major players in the country. The duo were Fairfield's top-two scorers last season combining for 27.2 points per game while also adding 3.2 3-pointers, 3.3 steals, and 8.8 rebounds per contest. The award is presented by Her Hoops Stats.
"What a great honor this is for both Kaety and Meg to be named amongst some of the best players in the country," Head Coach
Carly Thibault-DuDonis said. "We are constantly preaching selflessness in everything we do, so it's not surprising to see the accolades distributed out to multiples."
Andersen has had one of the best first two seasons among any student-athlete in program history, already nearing the 1,000-point milestone with 987 in her career. She has led the team in scoring in both of her collegiate seasons while also leading the conference in field goal percentage with a .483 mark last season. She has already drained 134 3-pointers as a Stag, becoming only the second sophomore in program history to reach triple digits. She is a two-time All-MAAC First Team selection and has also earned a spot on the All-Metropolitan teams in both campaigns. She led the Stags to their second-straight MAAC Championship while being named the tournament's MVP in 2025. She was also voted the MAAC Preseason Player of the Year this offseason.
L'Amoreaux also earned All-MAAC and All-Met honors last season after posting career-bests with 12.4 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game. She was named to the MAAC All-Tournament team for the second-straight season which was highlighted by converting the game-winning reverse layup in the MAAC Semifinals against Mount St. Mary's. In her career, she has dished out 221 assists, drained 95 3-pointers, swiped 118 steals while scoring 721 points.
"Both have worked hard to get to where they are, but neither is satisfied with the success they've had individually or we've had collectively," Coach Carly said. "They've both made huge strides this offseason and continued to grow their game. It's going to be fun to see them, and us, compete against some of the best teams in the country this season!"
The duo has helped the Stags to back-to-back MAAC Tournament Championships and NCAA Tournament appearances. Fairfield has also posted a 59-7 overall record marking the second-best winning percentage in Division I. That success has put the Stags on the national stage, earning top-25 votes in the Associated Press (AP) poll in both campaigns.
The MAAC Preseason favorites will begin their campaign at Villanova on Wednesday, Nov. 5 at 7pm.
