BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Scott Daly placed 31st in a field of more than 150 runners to lead Fairfield University Men's Cross Country at the Paul Short Run. The Stags placed 18th in the 44th iteration of the meet on Friday afternoon at Lehigh University.
Daly finished the 8K course in 25:48 to land in the top quarter of the field in 31st place. Five Fairfield harriers all finished within 29 seconds of each other, paced by
Connor Secora at 27:29.
Mike Bodie (27:44),
Mike Dziuba (27:47) and
Nick Rispoli (27:56).
Timothy Salit (27:58) and
Dan Lehman (31:25) rounded out the effort.
The Stags' finish slotted them ahead of two teams: MAAC opponent Niagara and St. Francis Brooklyn. Buffalo won the team title with 59 points. The Bulls' five scoring runners were all among the race's top-20 finishers led by a fourth-place showing from Liam Hilbert (24:54). Evans Kibet of Siena was the top individual finisher with a winning time of 24:41.
Next weekend, the Stags begin their championship season at Franklin Park in Boston with the New England Championship on Saturday, Oct. 7.
