NEW BRITAIN, Conn. – Five members of Fairfield University Men's Cross Country hit the course at Stanley Quarter Park in New Britain on Friday afternoon at the CCSU Mini-Meet.
Gabriel Montoya set the pace for the Stag quintet, placing 43rd overall.
Montoya completed the 5K course with a time of 16:24.22. The four remaining Stags crossed the line in succession from 46th to 49th place:
Jack Putnam (16:38.67),
Owen Fletcher (16:42.78),
Daniel Norton (16:57.32), and
Charlie Tessier (17:02.83).
The Stags finished sixth on the team leaderboard. Host Central Connecticut State won the meet, paced by third place finisher Mark Rodriguez with a time of 14:47.28. Unattached runners Will Benoit (14:43.97) and James Sullivan (13:45.69) were the top two overall finishers.
Up next, the Stags head to Montgomery, N.Y. for the 2025 MAAC Championship on Saturday, Nov. 1. The conference-wide meet will be held at Twin Ponds on the Farm for the third consecutive season.
