Field Hockey Welcomes Newcomers To Campus

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Fairfield University Field Hockey and Head Coach Jackie Kane are pleased to announce ten new additions to the team for the upcoming 2017 season.

This year's incoming class consists of nine freshmen from four states, two international student-athletes who hail from Germany, and a transfer from Missouri State University.

"I am thrilled to add so many new players to our roster this year" said Kane. "The wide range of talents and skills that these women will bring to the team will help us build upon our success and will be vital to winning this season."

Sarah Boles
 
A forward from the Academy of Notre Dame de Namur in Pennsylvania, Sarah Boles was an Honors student and had great success with both her club and high school teams.  She was a member of WC Eagles which captured the NIT Championship three years in a row in 2014, 2015, and 2016. She was successful during her high school years as well, winning both the 2016 Inter-Ac and PAISAA Championship.  Off the pitch, Boles was also named to the National Academic Squad in both 2015 and 2016.   
 
Kelly Buckley
 
Kelly Buckley was a defender at Shenendehowa High School in Clifton Park, New York where she was a scholar athlete for all four years and also a Section 2 All-Star in both 2015 and 2016.  In her senior year, her team capped off a perfect 21-0 season with a state championship. Buckley was named Times Union Player of the Year for her play at Shenendehowa.  She will join her sister Erin, a senior defender at Fairfield, and she plans to study nursing. 
 
Meghann Maguire
 
While she was a midfielder at North Kingstown High School, Meghann Maguire was an Honor Roll student and a member of the National Honor Society.  She was also the recipient of the Rhode Island Scholar Athlete Award in 2016.  Her high school team won the Division 1 State Championship in her junior year , earning the State Tournament MVP award for her efforts.  She was also named National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Third Team All-America, NFHCA All-Region, Max FH All-Region, and Rhode Island Division I Player of the Year as a senior.  Her success did not stop there as she also won the Four Goals Cup Championship with her club team in both 2015 and 2016 and was a USAFH Futures Level 1 Site participant from 2013 to 2017.  She intends to study psychology in the fall. 
 
Kelsey O'Neill
 
Kelsey O'Neill was a starting midfielder at Shore Regional High School where she was named to the All-Academic Team all four years as a student-athlete.  Her team won the state championship three years in a row and was division champions in 2016.  A team captain in her senior season, O'Neill captured First Team All-Shore and Coaches All-Division Team honors.  She was also awarded the 2016 Shore Regional Field Hockey Leadership Award and won the NIT championship with her club team, the Jersey Intensity.  She plans to join the Dolan School of Business in the fall. 
 
Danielle (Dani) Profita
 
A forward from Warren Hills High School, Dani Profita was named captain of her team in her senior year.  She broke the single-season school record for goals and points in a season in 2015 and was named First Team All-State, Max FH High School All-Region Team and ranked among the Top 25 Players to Watch in New Jersey.  Her club team won gold in the National Hockey Festival three years in a row and won silver in the Disney Showcase.  They also won gold in the Junior Premier Outdoor League in 2013 and 2015.  Profita plans to study biology. 
 
Zoe Rosen
 
Zoe Rosen was member of the National Honors Society and a four-year starting goalkeeper on the Monroe Township High School field hockey team.  She was named Greater Middlesex Conference Defensive Player of the Year in her junior season and led her team to a pair of Greater Middlesex Conference Championships.  She played club for the WC Eagles where she helped win three NIT Championships.  She intends to focus her studies on accounting when she arrives this fall. 
 
Andrea Soler 
 
Soler hails from Terrassa, Spain and attended Missouri State University before transferring to Fairfield this fall. As a forward at MSU, she was an Honor Roll student and was named to the NFHCA National Academic Squad and All-MAC Academic Team.  As a freshman and a junior, she earned Second Team All-MAC honors. Last season, she also had her best offensive season for MSU, leading the team with 13 points comprised of four goals, and five assists. 
 
Amelie Auch
 
Auch was a defender and midfielder while she was in high school at Immanual-Kant-Gymnasium in Stuttgart, Germany.  She excelled as a member of the Club HTC Stuttgarter Kickers which competed in the Women's Regionalliga league and won second place in the league championships in 2015.  She was also named a member of the Women's Regionalliga team in 2016.  Auch plans to study economics in the fall. 
 
Emma Matlach
 
A midfielder from Hannover, Germany, Emma Matlach attended Kaiser Wilhelm and Ratsgymnasium for her high school education and played at the highest youth level of field hockey. She won 12 State Championships and made it to the Final 4 of the German National Championships while in the youth league.   In her first season at the women's level, she made the first Bundesliga team at Hannover THC.  She was also an All-State Selection for four years. 
 
Ryan Murray
 
Ryan Murray was a forward and three year varsity letter winner on the Central Bucks High School West field hockey team.  She was named to the Suburban One All-League Third Team in 2015 and Second Team in 2016.  Her team was also Suburban One League champions in 2015.  She played for the FSC Falcons and competed in the NIT in 2013, 2015, and 2017, the Junior Premier Outdoor League in 2015 and 2016, and the Junior Premier Indoor League in 2016 and 2017.  Murray intends to major in Biomedical Engineering.
