FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Six Fairfield University field hockey student-athletes earned National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Scholars of Distinction honors for their achievement in the classroom.
Maggie Dowd,
Noor Hellemans,
Konni Hofmann,
Rylee LaLoup,
Beatrice Loevenich, and
Alice Pifferi were six of the 341 Division I student-athletes noted for their academic excellence, all posting a GPA of 3.9 or better through the fall semester.
Seniors Hofmann, LaLoup, and Pifferi were also acknowledged for being Scholars of Distinction in each of their four years at Fairfield University. Hellemans made the team for the third time as a Stag, Loevenich garnered her second Scholar of Distinction accolade, and Dowd received her first berth. All six were recognized earlier in February as part of the NFHCA's National Academic Squad which also included
12 additional Stags.
The Fairfield University field hockey team, under Head Coach
Laura Gebhart, finished the 2025 season with a 16-6 overall record and an unblemished 9-0 mark in NEC play. The Stags captured the NEC regular-season and tournament championship which earned a berth to the NCAA Championship. The team posted an opening round win against Boston University by a 1-0 score before falling to national finalist and second-seeded Princeton University by a 3-1 count.
