Stags Finish 15th at Towson Spring Invitational

GRASONVILLE, Md. – For the second straight day, Eric Austin led the way for the Fairfield University men's golf team, carding a 76 (+4) to pace the Stags at the Towson Spring Invitational. Austin, who posted an even-par 72 yesterday, finished the tournament tied for 12th place and guided the Stags to 15th on the team leaderboard.

Austin was just one stroke out of the top 10 and three shots from the top five on a cluttered individual leaderboard. Among his teammates, he was followed by Thomas Urciuoli with a 156 (+12), Alex Taylor's 158 (+14), Kellen Jordan's 159 (+15) and a 163 (+19) carded by Kevin Duncan.

Daniel Brennan of Bethune-Cookman won individual medalist honors with a 142 (-2). He edged Towson's Spencer Alexander, Fairleigh Dickinson's Nicolas Osorio and Elon's Jared Mactas by a single stroke. Mactas turned in the best individual round of the tournament with a 67 (-5) on Saturday.

As a team, the Stags' 15th-place performance put them ahead of seven squads, including LIU Brooklyn, Sacred Heart and Maryland Eastern Shore. Elon won the team title by one stroke with a 587 (+11) to sneak past host Towson. The Stags were 10 strokes out of the top-10 over the course of the 36-hole event.

Fairfield is back on the links next weekend for two days of action at The Manor Intercollegiate on April 1-2 in Farmville, Va.
