Austin, Duncan Pace Stags in Opening Round of Towson Invitational

GRASONVILLE, Md. – Eric Austin carded a 75 (+3) with Kevin Duncan just one stroke behind him to lead the Fairfield University men's golf team in the opening round of the Towson Invitational. The Stags are tied for 10th place in the 16-team field after the first 18 holes at Prospect Bay Country Club.

Austin was one of eight golfers to fire a 75 today, six strokes off the pace set by Drexel's Christopher Crawford, while Duncan is among the five golfers to card a 76. Thomas Urciuoli added a 79 for Fairfield, with Kellen Jordan turning in an 82 and Alex Ferrante wrapping up the opening round with an 88.

Midway through the two-day tournament, the Stags' 312 slots them in a 10th-place tie with MAAC foe Rider. Fairfield is nine strokes behind fifth-place St. Francis (Pa.) and 17 shots off the lead. Drexel is atop the team leaderboard with a 295, one stroke ahead of second-place Georgetown.

After Sunday's final round, the spring schedule features three one-day tournaments prior to the 2016 MAAC Championship set for April 22-24 at Disney's Magnolia Golf Course in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.
